Making SR 104 and SR 522 Work for Lake Forest Park
The Safe Highways Project
The City of Lake Forest Park is looking at the two state highways within city limits—Bothell Way NE (SR 522) and Ballinger Way NE (SR 104)—and exploring ways to make them safer, more accommodating to transit, and more walkable and bikeable.
Through this process, we hope to accomplish three goals:
There is a concurrent project called “Safe Streets” that was initiated by City staff in Fall 2016. The Safe Streets project is separate and is focused on the other surface streets in Lake Forest Park. Read more about Safe Streets at www.lfpsafestreets.com.
The Safe Highways project was initiated by City staff in the Spring of 2017. It is anticipated that the draft recommendation will be available by the end of 2017.
We have conducted stakeholder interviews and are working with a Technical Advisory Committee that will meet regularly for the duration of the project. Input from the interviews and Technical Advisory Committee will provide early guidance for the corridor plans for Bothell Way NE and Ballinger Way NE. The City presented initial findings and highway improvement project options for SR 104 at an Open House on October 18. Materials from that event can be found on the Project Files page. The next Open House will be held on November 14 and will focus on options for SR 522. Details for that event can be found on the Get Involved page.
